I often practice yoga in a way where my daily needs and feelings will decide which poses I choose, or what time of the day I practice. Most of the time I don´t have any problems getting on the mat or board, but some days, for sure, I can feel like I just rather do something else. On days like that, some inspiration often helps. Something to awaken the stoke to get out on my board, or yoga mat. Some good old quotes to spark the joy of meeting myself and my inner landscape, no matter what´s going on in my life. Knowing how good I´ll feel after my practice, I hit the mat or board after reading up on some yummy words. And hey, no matter if we have a good or bad day – who doesn´t love a good inspirational quote?
Here are my favorite ten quotes I refer back to for inspiration on difficult days, or whenever I feel some need for inspiration.
The cure for anything is salt water; sweat, tears or the sea.
– Isak Dinesen
A mountain is composed of tiny grains of earth. The ocean is made up of tiny drops of water. Even so, life is but an endless series of little details, actions, speeches, and thoughts. And the consequences whether good or bad of even the least of them are far-reaching.
– Swami Sivananda
Call us what you’d like. Heartbreakers, wave chasers, tomboys, pioneers. But let’s be clear: we’re not delicate flowers waiting to be asked to the big dance. We’re firecrackers burning deep into the night, and tearing through our days with reckless enthusiasm in our never-ending pursuit of what’s next. Up mountains, down waves, and through cultures we’ve never known—all in search of thrills we’ve not yet experienced. So judge us all you want. Just don’t wait up. We might be awhile.
Study how water flows in a valley stream, smoothly and freely between the rocks. Also learn from holy books and wise people. Everything – even mountains, rivers, plants and trees – should be your teacher.
– Morihei Ueshiba
Yoga is the perfect opportunity to be curious about who you are.
– Jason Crandell
Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom.
– Viktor E. Frankl
In stillness all conflict must end.
– Phillip Urso
The pose begins when you want to leave it.
Everything changes when your board touches the water.
– Billabong womens
The best remedy for those who are afraid, lonely, or unhappy is to go outside, somewhere where they can be quiet, alone with the heavens, nature, and God. As long as this exists, and it certainly always will, then there will be comfort for every sorrow, whatever the circumstances may be.
– Anne Frank
